Marjorie Vasquez Struck & Killed In Santa Barbara County

Pedestrian struck and killed at Lancaster intersection.

Santa Barbara County, CA (December 13, 2023) 86-year-old Marjorie Vasquez, a Goleta resident, was struck and killed by a vehicle in Santa Barbara County. The Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Office said the accident occurred a few minutes after 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 12th.

It happened in the 7300 block of Hollister Avenue, not far from Lowell Way, officers said. Marjorie Vasquez was hit by a vehicle and sustained fatal injuries. Emergency crews arrived at the scene and found Vasquez already deceased. She was, tragically, pronounced dead at the scene by authorities. The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Coroner released her identity after her family was notified of her passing.

The driver of the vehicle involved in this pedestrian versus vehicle collision remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. Officers do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors in this fatal collision.

Officers are still investigating this tragic pedestrian collision to try and determine what exactly happened. The cause is still a mystery but investigators are working hard to figure it out.
