Antioch, CA (June 5, 2024) Under the cover of darkness, a vehicle struck a pedestrian and sped away on Tuesday night in Antioch. The accident occurred mere minutes before 10:30 p.m. at the intersection of Deer Valley Road and Lone Tree Way, according to reports. Tragically, the pedestrian did not survive this traumatic accident on June 4th.

It was approximately 10:26 p.m. in Antioch on Tuesday night, June 4th, as a pedestrian walked near the intersection of Deer Valley Road and Lone Tree Way. As the pedestrian walked, a vehicle approached and struck the pedestrian. The force knocked the pedestrian to the ground and left them with life-threatening injuries, reports indicated. Instead of stopping and calling for help, the driver of the vehicle hit the gas and sped away from the scene, leaving the pedestrian dying and alone.

By the time authorities arrived, the pedestrian was in bad shape. Officers with the Antioch Police Department performed CPR on the victim in an effort to save their life as they waited for paramedics. The Contra Costa County Fire and American Medical Response crews arrived at the scene and rushed to give the victim life-saving treatment. Paramedics did everything they could, but the victim’s injuries were too severe and officers said he died at the scene that night. Officers placed a tarp over the victim and pronounced him dead at the scene, reports indicated.

Police officers gathered evidence at the scene and are determined to find the vehicle that struck the victim that dark night. They want to bring the driver responsible to justice. Not only is it illegal to flee the scene of a crime such as this one, but it is also heartless. Anyone with information about this horrible and tragic accident is asked to call the Antioch Police Department.
