Garden Grove, CA (August 8, 2024) The community of Garden Grove awoke to sad news on Wednesday, August 7th. A pedestrian was struck by a minivan in the middle of the night, while most of the community slept. It all happened around 2:00 a.m., near Magnolia Park, on Magnolia Street, according to reports. Sadly, the pedestrian died from their injuries.
Most would consider 2:00 a.m. the middle of the night. While most people were sleeping, a pedestrian was walking along Magnolia Street in Garden Grove, not far from Magnolia Park. As they walked through the darkness, a 2004 Toyota Sienna minivan approached. For reasons that remain unknown, the minivan struck the pedestrian in the 11300 block of Magnolia Street. The impact threw the pedestrian several feet before they landed on the ground.
Sirens filled the air in the distance as the Garden Grove Police Department hurried to the scene. They arrived and found the minivan stopped, its driver waiting for them. On the ground, motionless, laid the pedestrian. Officers hurried to the pedestrian’s side, prepared to give life-saving treatment. They found the victim unresponsive and, with heavy hearts, pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene.
The scene was thoroughly investigated and officers took a statement from the driver of the minivan. At this time, they do not believe drugs or alcohol played a role in this collision. Officers are working to determine what exactly took place on Magnolia Street in Garden Grove early that morning.
