Visalia, CA (November 23, 2023) A pedestrian was killed on Tuesday night, November 21st, after being hit by multiple vehicles on Highway 99 in Visalia, according to the California Highway Patrol. The collision occurred around 9:00 p.m. near Paige Avenue.
Witnesses reported seeing the pedestrian running onto the highway from the right shoulder. They were hit by one car and then another as vehicles sped down the highway and couldn’t stop in time to avoid the pedestrian.

Emergency crews arrived at the scene and found the pedestrian with fatal injuries, lying on the highway. The No. 1 lane of Highway 99 had to be closed following the tragic accident as crews cleared the roadway. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene and a medical examiner was called to the scene.
Officers are investigating this accident to try and determine what exactly happened and why the pedestrian ran onto the highway in front of traffic. The vehicles that struck the pedestrian remained at the scene and officers were able to question them, but no arrests were made in this Highway 99 pedestrian collision.
