El Cajon, CA (June 28, 2024) A pedestrian lost his life mere minutes before 11:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 27th, in El Cajon. The man, said to be in his 50s was struck by a vehicle on West Chase Avenue and sustained fatal injuries, officers reported.
At approximately 10:52 p.m. on Thursday night, June 27th, a white 2020 Toyota Tacoma was driving along West Chase Avenue in El Cajon. As he approached 300 West Chase Avenue in the darkness of night, he struck a pedestrian. The victim was said to be between the age of 50 and 60, according to Lt. Darrin Forster with the El Cajon Police Department. The force from the impact threw the pedestrian. They landed, hard, on the ground, reports indicated. The driver of the pickup truck stopped and called 911.

The El Cajon Police Department arrived at the scene and found the pedestrian on the ground. They rushed to give him life-saving treatment but sadly, it was too late. The pedestrian had succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at these scene by authorities. They gently covered the victim with a tarp and waited for a coroner to arrive. The driver of the pickup truck was not injured, according to reports.
