Santa Barbara, CA (September 27, 2023) A pedestrian was injured on Tuesday afternoon after she was trapped under a vehicle on Foothill Road/State Route 192. According to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, the accident occurred around 3:30 p.m.

The driver of the vehicle was reportedly leaving a private driveway in the 2900 block of Foothill Road when they hit the pedestrian, identified only as a woman. The woman ended up trapped under the vehicle and paramedics had to use airbags that were specially designed to lift the vehicle.
Once the woman was freed, she was taken to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital to receive treatment for injuries she sustained.
Investigators at the scene told Noozhawk that the driver of the car meant to hit the brake when they saw the pedestrian, but accidentally hit the gas pedal.
