Los Angeles, CA (October 30, 2023) Drivers on the 101 Freeway in Los Angeles had a stressful commute following a tragic accident that took one person’s life. The deadly crash occurred early Monday morning, October 30th, on the southbound freeway, according to police officers.
A pedestrian was on the freeway in the early hours of the morning while it was still dark outside, making them difficult to see by drivers. The accident happened on the shared exit to Santa Monica Boulevard and Western Avenue. Sky5 from KTLA5 was flying above the scene and reported a heavy police presence at the crash site.

The 2 right lanes of the on-ramp to southbound 101 were blocked for quite a while following the collision. A SigAlert was issued for the area of the collision and Finger Chan, KTLA 5’s Traffic Reporter, said traffic was backed up to the Gower Street exit. Police conducted an investigation of the scene to determine what exactly happened on the 101 Freeway.
Authorities are still not certain what exactly happened on this stretch of freeway early Monday morning. They hope to put the pieces together soon.
