Las Vegas, NV (April 28, 2024) A community was left in shock on Sunday morning after a pedestrian was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver. The fatal accident took place on Summerlin Parkway in Las Vegas shortly after 5:00 a.m. on April 28th. The driver immediately fled the scene following the accident, according to reports.
A vehicle was driving on Summerlin Parkway when, for reasons unknown, they struck a pedestrian. Instead of stopping, as law requires, the driver fled the scene. Officers said the vehicle fled near the I-215 Summerlin Parkway off-ramp and the I-215 Far Hills northbound on-ramp. Officers said the vehicle was a 2017-2021 Honda sedan and that it more than likely has front end damage from hitting the pedestrian.
Emergency personnel hurried to the scene and found the pedestrian on the ground, unresponsive. Officers with the Nevada State Police Highway Patrol began life-saving measures on the victim, but sadly, there was nothing they could do. With heavy hearts, they pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene and waited for the coroner to arrive.
Officers began gathering evidence, determined to figure out what type of vehicle struck the pedestrian and fled. Officers said the driver is now outstanding and if anyone has any information they are asked to contact the Nevada State Police Highway Patrol Division or to contact Crime Stoppers. Officers said that any tips that lead to the driver’s felony arrest or indictment, could result in a cash reward.
