TEMECULA, CA (October 10, 2022) – A pedestrian was struck and killed today on a Temecula residential street, but the circumstances weren’t immediately clear.
The fatality occurred shortly after 11 a.m. near the intersection of Howell Mountain and Serdonis streets, according to the California Highway Patrol.
According to the CHP, an Acura sedan hit the victim, whose identity was not immediately released, but no other details were available.
The motorist did not attempt to flee, the CHP said.
Riverside County Fire Department paramedics reached the location minutes later and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
An investigation was underway.
UPDATE October 11, 2022: Authorities have identified Sharon A. Miller-Dzurinda, 73, as the victim of this tragic and sad collision. Mrs. Miller-Dzurinda was traveling with her husband very close to their home when she stepped out of their 2017 Acura TL sedan with the passenger door open. The vehicle started to roll backward and knocked Mrs. Miller-Dzurinda to the ground and was unfortunately overrun by the front-right tire. Her husband did not see her as the vehicle continued to move.
Mrs. Miller-Dzurinda’s husband’s identity has not been disclosed, but was questioned by the police and released without any arrests.
