REDDING, CA (August 25, 2022) – A pedestrian was killed on Highway 273 after being struck by a vehicle on August 24 according to Action News Now.
Authorities had to close the southbound lanes of Highway 273 to Wyndham Lane to investigate the cause and details of the crash.
The man, whose name is being withheld at this time, was pronounced dead on the scene.
The collision occurred just after midnight under the railroad crossing on Highway 273 between Wyndham Lane and Buenaventura Boulevard.
Redding Police say that the man was pushing a shopping cart across the road and may have been homeless.
The driver remained on the scene to cooperate with authorities, and was not suspected of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
