LONG BEACH, CA (SEPTEMBER 9, 2023): One person is dead following a pedestrian collision in Long Beach Thursday night.
According to the Long Beach Police Department, the incident occurred at around 10:40 a.m. on Pacific Avenue and 23rd Street. A man was crossing the street heading westbound when he was struck by a 2016 Dodge Charger traveling southbound.

The man, who has not yet been identified, suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
Authorities report that the man was walking outside the crosswalk when the Dodge struck him, and the Dodge was unable to avoid the collision.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors in this collision.
Long Beach Authorities continue to investigate this fatal crash on Pacific Avenue and 23rd Street.
