Los Angeles, CA (May 29, 2024) A heart-breaking accident on Tuesday, May 28th, left a community in shock. A 33-year-old woman was hit by a vehicle that then crashed into a building, pinning the woman. The devastating accident took place at approximately 4:30 p.m. on West 46th Street in the Vermont Square neighborhood of South Los Angeles. Witnesses said the victim’s husband was seen crying and clutching her lifeless body following the horrible accident.

The woman was walking with her husband in the 1300 block of West 46th Street, according to reports. Suddenly, a vehicle came barreling towards the couple, hitting the woman before it slammed into a building. The accident left the woman pinned between the vehicle and the wall of the building, authorities reported. Sadly, officers said the woman died at the scene, with her husband at her side, crying and clutching her body.

They rushed to give life-saving measures to the 33-year-old victim, but she had sadly succumbed to her injuries. As her husband cried, officers sadly pronounced her dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and was arrested for reckless driving.

Officers called safety inspectors to the scene to determine if the building was still structurally sound following the collision. A tow truck hauled the vehicle away and officers gathered evidence in an attempt to learn what caused this traumatic and terrible accident in South L.A. Why was the driver driving recklessly at the time of the accident? No matter what they discover, a life was lost due to a senseless act.
