PALMDALE, CA (October 20, 2022) – A pedestrian selling balloons in Palmdale was killed after being struck by two vehicles, authorities said today.
The collision was reported at approximately 9:10 p.m. Wednesday and deputies from the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station responded to the corner of 25th Street East and Avenue S where they learned one vehicle was stopped at a traffic light and the other was traveling at a high rate of speed east on Avenue S when it struck the vehicle that was stopped at the traffic light from behind, Lt. Thomas Kim told City News Service.
The vehicles ended up on the sidewalk, where witnesses told deputies they struck a man selling balloons.
The pedestrian was taken to Antelope Valley Hospital, where they were later pronounced dead.
One of the drivers struck a utility pole during the collision and was taken to a hospital in an unknown condition, said Kim.
Kim said detectives are investigating the collision.
