There was a news videographer at the scene said a woman was driving her car down Lancaster Boulevard when she stopped to let people, believed to be homeless, cross the street. At the same time, a man stood up from the bus bench he was sitting on, and walked to her car. The man hit her car and then grabbed the door handle, tugging and wiggling it, trying to get the door opened.
The woman driving the vehicle apparently spooked and hit the gas, trying to drive away before the man could get her car door opened. As she drove away, her car hit him, fatally injuring him.
