Port Hueneme, CA (September 22, 2023) A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle on Wednesday night (September 20, 2023) in Port Hueneme. The Port Hueneme Police Department said they responded to the accident around 8:23 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers found a man in the roadway at Park Avenue and North Ventura Road. The pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle and was rushed to a local hospital for treatment of injuries they sustained during the collision. Commander Rover Albertson said the pedestrian later died at the hospital from their injuries.
The driver of the vehicle that struck the pedestrian remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. He was identified as a 45-year-old Port Hueneme man. He was driving north on Ventura Road when he struck the pedestrian.
Investigators at the scene do not suspect speed or impairment as contributing factors in this collision, Albertson said. The investigation is ongoing, though.
