San Diego, CA (July 2, 2024) The Mountain View neighborhood in San Diego was shocked to learn about a hit-and-run in their community. It happened on Monday afternoon, July 1st, right about 4:30 p.m., according to reports. The pedestrian was struck by a vehicle that then fled the scene, leaving the victim with serious injuries.
A pedestrian, described as a 36-year-old male, was walking through the Mountain View neighborhood in San Diego, on South 38th Street. As he walked, a silver 2010 Volkswagen Routan was driving south on 38th Street. The pedestrian began to cross the street from east to west and was struck by the Volkswagen. The force knocked the pedestrian on the ground. The woman driving the vehicle never stopped, instead she continued driving until she was out of sight.

Emergency crews arrived at the scene and found the pedestrian on the ground, unresponsive. Paramedics hurried to his side and began life-saving treatment at the scene. The pedestrian was then rushed to a local hospital, Officer John Buttle with the San Diego Police Department told City News Service. The extent of the pedestrian’s injuries has not been disclosed.
The San Diego Police Department Traffic Division is leading the investigating into this hit-and-run accident. It was obvious that the pedestrian had been hit by a vehicle, but the vehicle had obviously fled the scene. Officers were able to view footage from a nearby liquor store’s security camera, which captured the entire incident. Officers are determined to find the vehicle responsible and, in doing so, find the driver and bring her to justice.
