Pedestrian Struck, Killed By Hit-And-Run Driver In Fairfield

Leland Franklin struck and killed on Winchester Road in Temecula.

Fairfield, CA (April 24, 2024) A senseless accident shocked the community of Fairfield on Tuesday morning. A pedestrian was struck, and killed by a hit-and-run driver on Air Base Parkway, not far from Wylie Lane. The tragic accident took place in front of the Pick-n-Pull, officers said.

An officer with the Fairfield Police Department was driving on Air Base Parkway at approximately 1:00 a.m., when they noticed something on the shoulder of the road. The officers pulled over and got out of the cruiser to see what was on the side of the road. To the officer’s disbelief, it was a body. It was obvious that the person had been hit by a vehicle, reports indicated.

The officer at the scene called for a coroner, as the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Other officers arrived at the scene and they closed Air Base Parkway for nearly six hours, officers said. Investigators closely examined the scene and tried to find anything that could help them determine the color or type of vehicle that struck the victim.

Officers want to remind drivers that fleeing the scene of an injury accident is not only heartless, but illegal. If anyone has information regarding this pedestrian hit-and-run in Fairfield, they are strongly encouraged to contact the Fairfield Police Department.
