Pedestrian Struck, Killed By Pickup In South Bakersfield

Pedestrian killed in Bakersfield hit-and-run.

Bakersfield, CA (March 15, 2024) The community of south Bakersfield was shocked to hear about the death of a pedestrian Thursday evening. The fatal collision occurred at the intersection of East Pacheco Road and Cottonwood Road around 8:00 p.m.

A female pedestrian was walking east at the intersection of East Pacheco Road and Cottonwood Road as a white pickup truck approached the intersection. The truck was driving north on Cottonwood Road and ended up hitting the pedestrian, officers said.

The Bakersfield Police Department rushed to the scene and found the woman lying in the intersection with life-threatening injuries. The white pickup was stopped and the driver was waiting for police officers to arrive. Paramedics were ready to give life-saving measures to the woman, but sadly, she had been killed in the collision. She was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.

Officers are working to determine what happened at this south Bakersfield intersection and who was at fault. The Bakersfield Police Department is asking that anyone with information call their police station.
