Shawn Robert Saenz Struck, Killed By Semi In Las Vegas

Daniel Magana struck and killed on 60 Freeway in Chino.

Las Vegas, NV (September 30, 2024) A pedestrian was struck and killed by a semi-truck on Interstate 15 on Sunday, September 29th, 2024. The accident took place in the North Las Vegas Valley around 1:15 in the morning, according to reports. The fatal accident happened at mile marker 54, not far from Speedway Boulevard.

Darkness covered Las Vegas at 1:15 a.m. as a man walked along Interstate 15. As he walked, a semi-truck was heading north, approaching him. Suddenly, the semi-truck struck the pedestrian, killing him instantly, reports indicated. The impact sent the man flying through the air before he landed, hard, on the ground. The driver of the semi immediately stopped and waited for authorities.

Initial reports indicated that the Nevada State Police Highway Patrol arrived at the scene, near mile marker 54, and found the man on the ground. They had to close northbound Interstate 15 and requested a coroner to come to the scene, as the victim was pronounced dead.

Officers are working to uncover what exactly happened on that dark stretch of freeway on early Sunday morning. The driver of the semi-truck cooperated with authorities as they investigated the scene and took his statement. The investigation remains ongoing, officers have stated.

Update (10/11): The victim has been identified as 52-year-old Shawn Robert Saenz.
