Visalia, CA (July 3, 2024) A tragic pedestrian accident occurred in Visalia on Tuesday, July 2nd. A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Cameron Avenue and Mooney Boulevard right around 9:00 p.m., according to reports. Sadly, the pedestrian did not survive.
Night had fallen over Visalia as a pedestrian walked towards the intersection of Cameron Avenue and Mooney Boulevard. At approximately 9:00 p.m., a vehicle approached the intersection and, for reasons that remain unknown, the vehicle struck the pedestrian. The victim was thrown several feet and landed, hard, on the ground. The driver of the vehicle immediately pulled into a nearby parking lot and called 911. They remained at the scene with the victim and officers said they cooperated during the investigation.

The Visalia Police Department received the call and hurried to the scene with sirens wailing and flashing emergency lights filling the night sky. They arrived to find the pedestrian lying on the ground, motionless. They rushed to begin life-saving treatment on the victim, but sadly, they had succumbed to their injuries. With heavy hearts, they pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. Officers covered the victim’s body with a tarp and requested a coroner to come to the scene, reports indicated.
Officers investigated the scene and are working to figure out exactly what happened that morning in Visalia. They took a statement from the driver of the vehicle and gathered as much evidence as they could find at the scene.
