Pedestrian Struck, Killed On San Diego (5) Freeway Off-Ramp

Pedestrian struck and killed when a vehicle went off the road near I-5 in San Diego.

San Diego, CA (October 14, 2024) Tragedy struck the community of San Diego as word spread of a pedestrian’s death on October 13th, 2024. The fatal accident took place on the off-ramp to Imperial Avenue from the southbound San Diego (5) Freeway. It happened just after 9:00 p.m. when a vehicle went off the road, according to reports.

A pedestrian walked along the shoulder of the off-ramp to Imperial Avenue, near the San Diego (5) Freeway on Sunday night. As they walked, a vehicle suddenly drifted from the roadway, onto the shoulder, before completely going off the road. The vehicle slammed into a cement barrier before driving down the embankment. It then struck the pedestrian, knocking them down on the side of the roadway.

Emergency crews arrived at the scene and found the pedestrian on the ground. City News Service reported that it is unknown, at this time, if the pedestrian died at the scene or at the hospital. Officers shut down the road as they investigated the scene.
