Las Vegas, NV (June 24, 2024) A community was surprised to hear that a pedestrian had been struck on Sunday night. It was June 23rd at approximately 9:30 p.m. as a pedestrian crossed Blue Diamond Road. They weren’t far from South Cimarron Road, when they were struck by a vehicle, officers reported. The pedestrian survived the accident, but sustained major injuries in the ordeal.
A pedestrian was walking through southwest valley areas of Las Vegas on Sunday night, when they decided to cross Blue Diamond Road outside of a marked crosswalk. The pedestrian tried to hurry across the street in the darkness of night, but didn’t make it. A compact car traveling east on Blue Diamond Road struck the pedestrian as they crossed, reports indicated. The force knocked the pedestrian several feet before gravity pulled them down and they landed with a thud on the ground.

Law enforcement arrived at the scene and found the pedestrian on the ground. The driver of the vehicle stopped and cooperated with authorities during their investigation, police reported. Paramedics at the scene evaluated the victim before taking them to a local hospital to receive treatment for serious injuries. Officers do not believe the driver of the vehicle was intoxicated at the time of the collision.
They continue to investigate this accident in an effort to better understand what happened that night. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Collision Investigation Section is handling the investigation, according to reports.
