Sarah Nefstad Killed By Car In Mountain View Walmart Parking Lot

A pedestrian was struck and killed in Pine Valley.

Mountain View, CA (December 11, 2023) Sarah Nefstad, 35, was struck and killed by a vehicle in a Walmart parking lot in Mountain View. The tragic accident happened right around 6:00 a.m. on Monday, December 4th, authorities said.

The Mountain View Police Department responded to a call about a vehicle versus pedestrian accident on the 500 block of Showers Driver, in a Walmart parking lot. Upon arrival, officers found Nefsted lying in the middle of the parking lot. Reports indicate that a Walmart employee was backing out of a parking spot to leave and didn’t see Nefsted because of the darkness and fog. She ended up driving over Nefstad, officers said.

Paramedics loaded Nefstad into the ambulance and rushed her to the nearest hospital to receive treatment for life-threatening injuries. Sadly, she died at the hospital not long after arriving.

Officers do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors in this fatal collision. They are still investigating the accident to determine exactly what happened, but they do believe that the thick fog played an active role in this collision.
