San Diego, CA (November 29, 2023) 42-year-old Stephen Debow of Del Mar was struck and killed by a vehicle on Utah Street in San Diego, authorities said. The accident occurred at approximately 7:15 p.m. in the 400 block of Utah Street, just south of Polk Avenue, according to the San Diego Police Department.
Stephen Debow was attempting to cross the street when he was struck by a vehicle, officers said. The driver continued driving away, leaving the scene as well as leaving Debow injured.
Emergency Crews arrived at the scene and found Debow lying in the roadway, seriously injured. Paramedics arrived shortly after and transported Debow to a local hospital for treatment for life-threatening injuries he sustained. Stephen Debow fought and held on for 6 days at Hillcrest Hospital before he succumbed to his injuries.

Police officers investigated the scene following the collision and found broken car pieces left behind from the hit-and-run driver’s vehicle. A driver’s side trim piece as well as a side mirror or left at the scene. Based on this evidence, the vehicle that struck Debow was a Hyundai model between the years of 2017 and 2022.
Officers are still looking for the driver but are determined to find him to give Stephen Debow’s family such justice for this deadly and horrible accident that occurred in San Diego.
