Westminster, CA (August 26, 2024) The community of Westminster was shocked to hear about a hit-and-run accident in their city on Sunday night, August 25th. It happened around 10:15 p.m. at the intersection of Shirley Avenue and Westminster Boulevard.
Sgt. Alan Aoki with the Westminster Police Department, stated that a vehicle struck a man and then fled the scene. The man was walking at the intersection of Shirley Avenue and Westminster Boulevard when he was struck by a vehicle, according to reports. It was dark, which could have made him difficult to see, however, the driver of the vehicle didn’t bother to stop. Instead, they hit the gas and quickly fled the scene, leaving the pedestrian behind with serious injuries.
Emergency crews arrived and found the man on the ground, alone, near the intersection. Paramedics hurried to his side and found that he had sustained significant injuries in the accident. He was rushed to a local hospital to receive treatment.
Officers worked to find evidence at the scene and are determined to find the vehicle that struck the pedestrian. They are also hoping to find the driver of the vehicle, who fled the scene, and bring him or her to justice. The investigation into this hit-and-run collision remains ongoing, according to reports.
