Bakersfield, CA (July 2, 2024)
A very sad accident took place in the early hours of the morning on Monday. It was about 12:45 a.m. when a person was riding an electric scooter along Ridgecrest Boulevard in the Mojave area.
Someone driving a vehicle came upon the rider of the scooter from behind. At this point, they were just west of Mahan Street and South Goss Street.
The person who was driving behind the scooter was identified as a 30-year-old Inyokern man. He was in a 2012 Mazda 6 traveling eastbound on Ridgecrest when the accident occurred. It’s unknown what led up to the collision, but when the man struck the rider of the scooter, he pulled over and called for help.
The rider of the scooter was identified as a female, but her name is unknown at the time of writing.
An ambulance was called to the scene to help the woman, but reports have stated that tragically, she passed away from he injuries. It’s unclear if she made it to the hospital or if she was pronounced dead at the scene.
