Woman Struck & Killed By Train In Santa Barbara

Santa Barbara, CA (November 12, 2023) A woman was struck and killed by a train on Saturday morning, November 11th, in Santa Barbara, according to the Santa Barbara City Fire Department. According to the Fire Department’s dispatch center, the fatal accident occurred right around 10:00 a.m.

First Responders and fire crews arrived at the scene in the 700 block of Cacique Street near South Quarantina Street and the MarBorg facility, according to authorities. Witnesses told the Santa Barbara city fire dispatch that they saw a woman sitting on the tracks. As the train approached, she didn’t move, just continued sitting until she was struck by an Amtrak Pacific Surfliner train.

The accident caused the train heading north to San Luis Obispo from San Diego to be delayed, according to Amtrak.

Emergency crews arrived at the scene to find the woman on the ground and unresponsive. Paramedics performed life-saving measures but sadly, the woman was eventually pronounced dead at the scene.

This accident is still under investigation, according to the Santa Barbara City Fire Department.
