Ezra Galvez, 18, Killed In Gardenville Crash On IR80 West

Head-on collision claims the life of Ezra Galvez, 18, in Gardenville.

Gardenville, NV (November 6, 2024) Tragically, 18-year-old Ezra Galvez was killed in a collision in Gardenvlle on October 19th. The collision occurred around 1:30 a.m. on IR80 West, at Robb Drive in Washoe County.

Most would consider 1:30 in the morning to be the middle of the night. 18-year-old Ezra Galvez was driving a 2007 Jeep Liberty along IR80 in Gardenville. Suddenly, for reasons that remain a mystery, the Jeep drifted into oncoming traffic. A 2017 Peterbilt semi-truck was pulling two flatbed trailers west along the highway. The two vehicles were headed right for each other, officers reported. The driver of the semi-truck tried to avoid hitting the oncoming Jeep by swerving. Galvez, behind the wheel of the Jeep, swerved to the right. The front of the Jeep Liberty slammed into the front of the semi-truck, according to reports. The Jeep then caught on fire.

Emergency crews arrived at the scene and found the burning Jeep and the semi-truck sitting in the roadway. Officers hurried to the vehicles, ready to give life-saving treatment to anyone who had been injured. Sadly, they found 18-year-old Galvez deceased. With heavy hearts, they pronounced the young man dead at the scene and requested a coroner. The driver of the semi-truck stayed at the scene and was cooperative with authorities during their investigation.
