SACRAMENTO, CA (AUGUST 22, 2023): A 22-year-old woman was killed in a two-vehicle collision Monday afternoon in Sacramento.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at approximately 2:20 p.m. on Highway 99 at the 50 split. A Toyota was traveling northbound behind a Peterbuilt dump truck when the truck slowed down and the Toyota rear-ended it.

The male driver of the Toyota was transported to an area hospital with major injuries. His passenger, a 22-year-old woman, was fatally injured. She was transported to the hospital where she later died from her injuries. A 6-month old and 1-year old were rear passengers in the vehicle, and were uninjured.
The California Highway Patrol has ruled out DUI as a factor in this collision. They continue to investigate this incident.
