Bakersfield, CA (February 23, 2024) Sadness and shock fell over Bakersfield following a hit-and-run that left a pedestrian dead on Thursday night. The man was walking along Columbus Street just before 9:30 p.m., when he was struck, officers said. The driver then fled the scene, leaving the pedestrian alone with life-threatening injuries.

Officers said they are looking for a dark covered sedan and asking that anyone with information to come forward. They do not know, at this time, if speed or intoxication were factors in this deadly hit-and-run but a team of investigators is working to determine what exactly caused this fatal accident.
