Las Vegas, NV (March 14, 2024) It was a March evening in Las Vegas as a 52-year-old woman took her dog for a walk on Shelborne Avenue. As she walked with her dog, she was hit by a vehicle at approximately 6:30 p.m., officers said. Sadly, she did not survive this awful accident in south Las Vegas.
Initial reports indicated that the woman was walking her dog on Shelborne Avenue near South Las Vegas Avenue as a Ford F-150 approached her from behind. Officers said they believe the setting sun caused a glare on the driver’s windshield and they just didn’t see the woman. The Ford struck the woman, knocking her to the ground.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department sent officers to the scene where they found the woman on the ground with life-threatening injuries. Paramedics rushed to help her and she was sent to University Medical Center to receive treatment. Unfortunately, she later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital, according to medical personnel.

The driver of the Ford remained at the scene and cooperated with officers as they investigated the accident. Officers do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors in this fatal pedestrian accident. Detectives continue to investigate this collision to determine what exactly happened to cost a pedestrian their life.
