Las Vegas, Nevada (April 8, 2024) Two people tragically lost their lives in a head-on crash on Highway 11 in Las Vegas on Sunday morning. It was just before 7:00 a.m. on Sunday, April 7th, when two vehicles collided near mile marker 12 on the Highway. The accident claimed the lives of a male and a female, according to the Nevada State Police.
Northbound Interstate 11 still had a reasonable amount of traffic early on Sunday morning. At approximately 6:53 a.m., for reasons still unknown, two vehicles collided head-on in the northbound lanes of the interstate. The interstate was littered with glass and debris in every direction and the two vehicles both sustained major damage in the accident.
The Nevada State Police arrived at the scene along with Paramedics from the Las Vegas Fire Department and found the two badly damaged vehicles in the middle of the interstate. Paramedics rushed to the vehicles to help anyone who needed medical attention. Sadly, they found a man and a woman were both unresponsive. With heavy hearts, authorities pronounced them both dead at the scene.
Police officers shut down both southbound and northbound lanes of Interstate 11 from the U.S. 95/I-11 junction to Boulder City Parkway, according to reports. The lanes were closed for hours as detectives gathered evidence and paramedics awaited the arrival of the coroner. Crews had to clean up the massive amounts of debris and glass that the crash had left behind and tow trucks were called to remove both of the damaged vehicles from the interstate.
Officers are determined to learn what exactly happened on interstate 11 that morning. They want to know what caused this deadly collision and who was at fault. The investigation is ongoing.
