10-Year-Old Boy Struck, Injured While Riding Bike In North Highlands

14-year-old on bike was struck and injured by Amazon delivery car that fled the scene in Castro Valley.

North Highlands, CA (May 8, 2024) Concern spread through the community of North Highlands as news spread of a boy being struck by a vehicle. The 10-year-old was riding his bicycle on Tuesday evening, May 7th, when he was hit by a vehicle around 6:40 p.m., records indicated. It took place at the intersection of Mary Kate Drive and Bobbie Jo Court and left the boy with non-life-threatening injuries.

Riding a bike is a rite of passage for most children, however, getting hit by a vehicle is not. A 10-year-old boy was riding his bicycle in the North Highlands area of Sacramento on Tuesday evening. For reasons still unknown, the boy was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Mary Kate Drive and Bobbie Jo Court. The impact threw the boy from his bicycle, causing him to land in the middle of the roadway. The boy’s bike was dented and broken following the accident, according to reports.

The Sacramento Fire Department arrived at the scene and found the boy on the ground, shaken. He had sustained scrapes and moderate injuries in the collision and was placed in an ambulance and taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Though the boy’s bike was damaged and he sustained injuries, he is lucky to be alive.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with officers who are still working to determine what exactly happened at this North Highlands intersection. Officers took statements from witnesses and gathered as much evidence as they could at the scene, however the investigation is ongoing.
