The California Highway Patrol was the first to arrive at the scene. They found the semi-truck overturned in the middle of Highway 44 and the Chevy pickup with major front-end damage. Paramedics arrived and found that both the driver and the passenger of the semi-truck had sustained injuries during the accident.
