San Luis Obispo, CA (September 18, 2024) One person was injured on Tuesday morning, September 17th, when a semi-truck and a moving truck collided on Highway 101. The collision occurred near San Luis Obispo on Cuesta Grade, at approximately 10:30 a.m.
Initial reports indicated that a semi-truck and a Penske rental moving truck collided on Highway 101. The collision caused the cab of the moving truck to separate from the body. Items inside the moving truck spilled onto the roadway, causing even more of a traffic hazard, reports indicated. The damaged vehicles sat on the roadway, blocking the No. 2 and No. 3 lanes of the highway.
Emergency crews arrived at the scene and found one person with injuries, according to reports. Ambulances were seen at the scene and transported one person with unknown injuries to a local hospital to receive treatment. Traffic began to back up on Highway 101 from TV Tower Road to just past Old Stage Coach Road, according to reports.

Officers are working to determine what caused this collision on Highway 101 in the San Luis Obispo area. They are also determined to uncover who was at fault. Officers requested a street sweeper with absorbent for leaking oil to come to the scene and clean up oil in the No. 3 lane. Others worked to remove the debris that was left behind by the collision. The accident remains under investigation.
