Bicyclist Struck & Injured In Point Loma (San Diego)

San Diego, CA (October 31, 2023) A bicyclist was struck by a vehicle and seriously injured by a vehicle in the Point Loma neighborhood of San Diego. The San Diego Police Department responded to the 4300 block of West Point Loma Boulevard around 9:00 p.m. on Monday, October 30th.

A 41-year-old woman was riding her bicycle on West Point Loma Boulevard, but was wearing dark clothing and had no lights on her bicycle, according to Officer John Buttle of the San Diego Police Department. A black 2011 Lexus RX450 was heading west on the same street, according to Buttle. The driver of the Lexus didn’t see the bicyclist and struck her.

Emergency crews arrived at the scene and found the bicyclist lying in the roadway, seriously injured. The driver of the Lexus remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.

Officer Buttle told City News Service that the bicyclist sustained a fractured pelvis among other injuries. Paramedics arrived at the scene and rushed the woman to a local hospital for treatment for non-life-threatening injuries. She is expected to make a full recovery, according to medical personnel.

Officers do not believe alcohol or drugs were a factor in this accident. The San Diego Traffic Division is investigating this collision to determine what exactly happened in the Point Loma neighborhood.
