Man on unicycle killed by Recology truck in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (June 2, 2022) – A man on a motorized unicycle was killed by a Recology truck in the Hayes Valley neighborhood of San Francisco. The accident occurred on Wednesday morning around 4 a.m. according to NBC Bay Area.

The man was found injured by police on Oak Street and Octavia Boulevard and was pronounced dead on the scene.

According to Recology, a truck collecting waste for recycling was headed north on Octavia Blvd. when the unicyclist struck the rear of the truck.

Recology’s Robert Reed issued a statement saying, “Safety is Recology’s paramount priority, and we are deeply saddened by the loss of life in this tragic accident. Our most sincere sympathies go out to the loved ones of the victim.”

The San Francisco Police Department don’t believe that drugs or alcohol were involved in the accident.
