Santa Barbara, CA (June 7, 2024) A two-vehicle collision on Highway 154 in Santa Barbara left two people with serious injuries on Thursday evening. The injury accident occurred at approximately 11:25 p.m. on June 6th, reports indicated. The crash occurred between a Chumash Casino bus and a pickup truck, not far from Stagecoach Road.

It was late at night on Thursday, June 6th, as a Chumash Casino bus headed along Highway 154 in Santa Barbara. Darkness had settled over the land and only the headlights in front of the bus lit the way ahead. At the same time, a pickup truck was traveling in the opposite direction on the highway, the road illuminated only by its headlights. For reasons still unknown, the two vehicles collided, head-on, in the middle of the road.

Emergency personnel rushed to the scene with sirens wailing and lights flashing. Upon arrival, they found the bus and the pickup truck with significant damage. Paramedics checked the occupants of the pickup truck and then the occupants of the bus to see if anyone needed medical attention. The driver of the pickup truck and one of the passengers on the bus had both sustained injuries in the collision. Paramedics transported them to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital by ambulance to receive treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police officers were forced to close a section of Highway 154 for an extended period of time so they could gather evidence and investigate the collision. Reports indicated that the highway was closed in both directions for approximately an hour and a half. A tow truck was called to remove at least one of the vehicles from the scene and crews worked diligently to clear the glass and debris from the highway. The investigation into this collision is ongoing as officers try to determine what caused this head-on crash in Santa Barbara and who was at fault.
