Cathedral City Crash Left Noah Garcia Dead, Five Others Injured

Two-vehicle collision leaves 6 injured on Highway 395 in Victorville.

Cathedral City, CA (April 9, 2024) A two-vehicle collision in Cathedral City on Monday night claimed the life of 19-year-old Noah Garcia and left five others with injuries. According to the Cathedral City Police Department, the accident occurred at approximately 9:21 p.m. on Cathedral Canyon Drive. Officers believe that speed was a factor in this fatal collision.

Garcia was driving a vehicle along Cathedral Canyon Drive at a high rate of speed on Sunday night. Four other people were also in the car as it headed north at a high rate of speed, officers said. At the intersection of Cathedral Canyon Drive and 33rd Avenue, another vehicle was making a left turn from Cathedral onto 33rd. As the vehicle turned, the first car, driven by Garcia, came speeding towards the intersection. It slammed into the turning vehicle before losing control and hitting a mailbox. After hitting the first mailbox, the vehicle went into a sideways skid and crashed into a second mailbox. It then hit two parked cars before rolling into a driveway, where it finally came to a stop.

Officers with the Cathedral City Police Department arrived at the scene and found the first vehicle smashed and severely damaged. It was sitting in a driveway nearly 1000 feet from the initial collision, according to officers. The second vehicle sustained damage but wasn’t as destroyed as the speeding car. Paramedics found five occupants in the first car, Garcia, who was driving, and four passengers. Garcia sustained life-threatening injuries and was rushed to a local hospital. Emergency medical personnel did everything they could, but his injuries were too severe. Sadly, Noah Garcia was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The four passengers in the vehicle, a 21-year-old woman, a 20-year-old woman, a juvenile male and a juvenile female were all injured in the collision. Sgt. Jeffrey Barnett with the Cathedral City Police Department, reported that the two adult women had both sustained fractures in the collision and the other two passengers had non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the second vehicle wasn’t injured, however the passenger sustained non-life-threatening injuries. They were taken to a hospital for treatment by the Cathedral City Fire Department.

Sgt. Burnett reported that they also found two loaded handguns in the vehicle that were not registered as they were gathering evidence.
