Fresno, CA (April 8, 2024) 38-year-old Bryant Fields was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver in Fresno on Thursday, April 4th. It all happened right around midnight on Chestnut Avenue, according to authorities. The driver who hit Fields fled the scene following the collision.
Streetlights helped to illuminate the dark roads of Fresno as the night sky was dark overhead. Fields was walking along Chestnut Avenue as a vehicle approached him. A few minutes after midnight, the vehicle struck Fields in the southbound lanes of the road, not far from Clinton Avenue, officers said. The force of the impact sent Fields into the middle of the road, where he landed. The driver of the vehicle hit the gas and sped away from the scene, leaving Fields alone, in the dark, with life-threatening injuries, in the middle of the road.
Emergency personnel arrived at the scene and found Fields lying in the middle of roadway. It was obvious that Fields had been struck by a vehicle, but the vehicle was nowhere to be found. Paramedics hurried to give the pedestrian life-saving measures but his injuries were too severe. Sadly, Fields was pronounced dead at the scene and later identified by the Fresno Coroner.
Officers at the scene searched for evidence to help them determine the type of vehicle that struck Fields. Anyone with any information regarding this hit-and-run accident is encouraged to contact the Fresno Police Department. Investigators are determined to find the vehicle responsible and, in turn, find the driver who fled the scene, leaving Fields behind.
