David Scott Lapensee Died in Coast Boulevard Crash in La Jolla

(San Diego, CA) David Scott Lapensee drove off a cliff near La Jolla Cove, prompting a rescue in San Diego.

On Tuesday, April 29 at 8:08 p.m. authorities received news of the accident in La Jolla. According to police, the crash occurred by the 1200 block of Coast Boulevard near the La Jolla Cove.

David Scott Lapensee, 76, drove on Coast Boulevard when he suddenly went over the side of the cliff, plummeting to the bottom of the La Jolla Cove. When first responders arrived at the scene, they rescued Lapensee from the vehicle, which they found in the water at the bottom of the cliff.

Police and firefighters remained at the scene of the rescue and spent several hours removing the vehicle from the water. By the time paramedics transported Lapensee to the hospital, they pronounced him dead.
