GRANADA HILLS, CA (May 16, 2022) – Three people were killed on Saturday night after their vehicle was struck by a suspected DUI driver.

The accident occurred on the 118 freeway near the 405 freeway just before midnight in Granada Hills.

A Glendale man was driving a Mercedes coupe and veered into a stationary Mercedes sedan in the far right lane of the 405. The California Highway Patrol are investigating why the sedan was stopped.

The sedan then hit a wall and erupted into flames, and the Mercedes coupe ended back onto the 118 where it blocked all lanes.

The three passengers of the sedan, engulfed in flames, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The Glendale man driving the coupe was taken to the hospital with major injuries and is suspected of DUI. The details of the accident are still under investigation.
