Lodi, CA (April 29, 2024) A tragic accident hit the community of Lodi, just north of Stockton, on Sunday night. One person sustained fatal injuries in the collision that involved at least three vehicles. It happened right around 8:16 p.m. on Highway 12 at Guard Road, reports indicated.
The three vehicles collided on Highway 12 for reasons that are still unknown. However, a white Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck went off the north side of the road, following the crash, and slammed into a vineyard. The California Highway Patrol arrived at the scene and found the pickup with two damaged tires on the right side, sitting in the vineyard, off of the highway. Another vehicle was in the westbound lane of Highway 12 and a third vehicle was in an eastbound lane. The vehicles were blocking traffic, which caused vehicles to backup on Highway 12.
Firefighters and paramedics worked with Highway Patrol officers to help everyone involved in this accident. Sadly, they found one person who had been fatally injured in the collision. They pronounced the victim dead at the scene and called for a coroner. Officers gathered evidence and spoke to those involved to try and determine what exactly happened. They plan to figure out what caused this accident and who was at fault. Tow trucks were called to remove at least one of the vehicles from the scene and crews cleaned debris from the roadway.
