SACRAMENTO, CA (May 26, 2022) – A 34-year-old Sacramento woman was killed, and a 4-year-old girl injured when a man ran a red light and broad sided the SUV they were in.
The California Highway Patrol said that a man was driving recklessly and ran a red light at the intersection of Power Inn Road and Elsie Avenue, causing him to crash into the SUV that had the green light.
Witnesses to the accident confirmed the details of the accident, which caused the SUV to overturn.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, and the little girl was taken to a nearby hospital with critical injuries.
The driver who struck the SUV tried to flee the scene, according to the police, but bystanders detained him at the scene. The man is said to be a 32-year-old from Elk Grove, and has been arrested on suspicion of DUI.
