1 injured, 1 arrested in Santa Cruz County DUI crash

Santa Cruz County, CA (November 26, 2023) One person was injured and another arrested in a 2-vehicle DUI crash in Santa Cruz County on Thanksgiving afternoon, November 23rd. The California Highway Patrol said the accident occurred on Buena Vista Drive near San Andreas Road.

According to reports, the collision involved a Ford Mustang and a Dodge Challenger. Upon arriving at the scene, officers noticed one driver displayed symptoms of alcohol usage. He was arrested at the scene for driving while under the influence of alcohol.

Paramedics treated the other driver, who sustained minor to moderate injuries in the collision on Buena Vista Drive. A tow truck was called to the scene to remove at least one of the vehicles from the roadway and investigators searched for evidence.

Officials said that the DUI collision and arrest came during the California Highway Patrol’s Maximum Enforcement Period. The agency posted extra officers to look for any impaired or distracted drivers, speeding or reckless drivers, and people not wearing their seat belts.
