Taje Holliman sentenced in killing of CalTrans employee on I-80 in Vacaville

SOLANO COUNTY, CA (July 21, 2022) – Taje Holliman, the man responsible for the death of CalTrans employee Quanda McGadney, has been sentenced to eight years in prison after pleading guilty to numerous charges.

Holliman admitted to striking and killing McGadney with his vehicle on June 3 on Interstate 80 near Lagoon Valley Road.

The Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office say that Taje Holliman was also a felon with a firearm in his vehicle at the time of the crash, and that he also had ammunition and multiple syringes with heroin in the vehicle.

McGadney was standing beside her work vehicle with a helmet and protective reflective clothing on before she was hit by Holliman.

KCRA reports:

Holliman pled guilty to charges relating to hit and run, felon in possession of a firearm/ammunition, DUI causing injury, misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter, driving without a license and drug charges. 

Taje Holliman left the scene of the accident after killing McGadney. He was later tracked and arrested by California Highway Patrol officers.
