Lyon County, NV (March 24, 2024) A collision involving two vehicles near Dayton on Saturday night, March 23rd, left three people seriously injured. The Nevada State Police believe that the person responsible was driving while impaired at the time of the crash, according to records. The injury accident happened just after 6:00 p.m.
A Toyota Camry was driving south when they made an eastbound turn without stopping at a stop sign, officers said. A Nissan was heading west as the Toyota turned directly in front of it. The driver of the Nissan had no time to react and ended up slamming into the Toyota Camry.
Emergency personnel responded and found the two vehicles with major damage. Debris and glass covered the roadway and they rushed to see if anyone was hurt. A passenger in the Camry sustained serious injuries, as well as the driver and a passenger in the Nissan. First responders called for a medical helicopter to come to the scene. All three victims were flown to Renown Regional Medical Center via Care Flight in three separate flights.
Police officers spoke with the driver of the Toyota and determined that he had been driving while under the influence of either drugs or alcohol. No arrests have been made at this time as detectives continue to investigate this accident and determine what exactly happened.
