Two Injured In DUI Rollover Collision In Madera

1 killed, another injured by DUI driver on Highway 99 in Tehama County.

Madera, CA (May 31, 2024) A driver was arrested on Sunday, May 26th, following a collision that not only injured him, but also his female passenger. The drunk driver crashed the vehicle they were riding in, causing it to roll multiple times before stopping in a dirt field. It all happened on Avenue 12 in Madera, not far from Road 37 1/2.

Reports indicated that it was early on Sunday morning when a black 2010 Honda Civic was speeding along westbound Avenue 12. The driver lost control of the vehicle causing it to flip and then roll repeatedly. The Honda finally crashed into a property near a house before coming to a stop in a dirt field. Officers with the California Highway Patrol received the 911 call and rushed to the scene. They found the vehicle, smashed and severely damaged, in the middle of a dirt field with a trail of debris left behind.

However, officers noticed that the driver seemed intoxicated. They administered a sobriety test, which the driver failed, and placed him under arrest for DUI. Officers would like to remind drivers that operating a vehicle while under the influence of drugs or alcohol is not only illegal, but also dangerous and stupid.
