Auburn, CA (September 19, 2024) A police officer riding a motorcycle was struck by a vehicle on Interstate 80 on Wednesday afternoon, September 18th, 2024. The collision occurred at approximately 1:45 p.m. and left the police officer with serious injuries.
A white pickup truck was traveling along Interstate 80 as a motorcycle officer entered the freeway from an off-ramp. The two collided, head-on, officers reported. The impact sent the motorcycle officer flying from his motorcycle and landing hard on the ground. The impact was so severe that the front of the pickup truck was smashed in, according to reports.
Emergency personnel arrived at the scene and found the motorcycle officer on the ground with injuries. Paramedics transported the officer to Sutter Roseville Medical Center, via ambulance, to receive treatment. Officials with the CHP stated that the officer has worked for the California Highway Patrol for 20 years. The driver of the pickup truck stayed at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
