Van Nuys, CA (February 29, 2024) A violent accident claimed the life of a motorcyclist and seriously injured another in Van Nuys on Wednesday evening. The Los Angeles Fire Department reported that the accident occurred at approximately 7:20 p.m. on Woodley Avenue. The two people on the motorcycle were hit by an SUV, according to initial reports.
Two people were riding along Woodly Avenue on February 28th when an SUV made a left turn onto Woodley right in front of them. As the SUV turned, the motorcyclist had no time to react and ended up slamming into the SUV, officers said.
The Los Angeles Fire Department arrived at the scene and found the motorcycle lying in the middle of the street. The frame was twisted and bent and debris and liquid littered the roadway. The two people who had been riding the motorcycle, were thrown and they laid several feet from the destroyed motorcycle. The driver of the silver four-door SUV remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
Paramedics raced to the motorcyclists to give aid to anyone who was injured. Sadly, one of the riders did not survive the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. The other rider was rushed to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, officers reported.
Police officers had to block Woodley Avenue near Hart Street while crews cleared the scene and detectives investigated this accident. They gathered evidence and spoke to witnesses to determine what exactly happened on Woodley Aveneue.
